18th Birthday

Well it’s April 30th again, which means I am another year older. Sad part is today was no different than any other day; I woke up, hopped in the shower and checked my phone and noticed it was April 30th. Now I would assume the normal 18 year old would be excited for their 18th birthday; legally an adult, can vote in elections and can buy all the cold medicine they wish. But when I peered over at today’s date my initial reaction was “Oh, it’s my birthday,” with little to no signs of emotion. Upon my arrival to school no one really knew, now I expected this but I didn’t expect my neighborhood friends would forget.

Thankfully I have facebook friends who can remember when my birthday is.

(At least I got some sweet gifts; Disc golf Bag and new a disc from the parents, some awesome CD’s from Hannah and a gift card from my Sister)

It’s So HOT!

Ok Ok Ok I know Air Conditioning is a luxury item compared to some parts of the world but if you can read this post you probably have some AC in your house so chill out (oh wait you can jerk).

But right now my AC system is busted (compressors broken) and it is currently 90 degrees in my house. I have a bunch of fans in the room where I study but still, studying in a 90 degree house is not fun.

(Didn’t know curveballs have so much heat behind them)

Guess Who’s Back

Well obviously me! So when I posted way back in January that you shouldn’t expect any posts for the next three weeks, I actually meant three months. Robotics ended up consuming ALL of my time between January – Mid April. But I have recently returned from our National Championship and I am now finished with my high school robotics team. To sum it all up, it was worth it.

So here is what you have missed in the world of Shan in 2009:

  •  College: I got accepted into Georgia Tech and will be attending there in the fall
  •  College 2: I didn’t get into Virginia Tech but I have appealed my decision and waiting on a response so until then I am a Yellow Jacket (GT runs the Triple Option offense so I’m set either way)
  • I have had 3 robotics competitions (New Jersey, VCU (Richmond), Atlanta (National Championship)) where my team has had its most successful year in team history (All because of me of course….and the entire team). We went 23-9 and placed well at all competitions, I honestly don’t think my mark will be beat for a while by future Chantilly teams.
  • My Sister got a Ford Explorer, now completing the FORD Rammah Family circle. (Dad drives a Explorer, Mom drives a Focus, I drive a Escape)
  • I got a bag for playing disc golf (to be explained in a later post)
  • I finished Multivariable Calculus and now I am working on Matrix Algebra (still at anther high school I have to drive to every other day)
  • I am currently playing House CYA Basketbal (community league). Honestly I am really bad at basketball (I was the second to last pick of the draft, should have been Mister Irrelevant) but I like my team and we are currently 1-2.
  • Have to do the whole AP thing: Statistics and Physics are my only tests this year (not so bad at all).
  • Other: There is probably more but I’m just procrastiniating in class right now and writing this post, expect a more constant flow of posts form here on.

Oh and I have birthday coming up on the 30th, I guess I’m turning 18. 17 wasn’t all that exciting so hopefully 18 has something interesting going on.
